Full Job Description

We are also a not-for-profit retirement community with a four out of five-star rating, located in Newton Kansas.
•Answer resident call lights promptly and courteously.
•Keep residents clean and dry, i.e., change clothing, linen when soiled and/or wet.
•Position resident in correct and comfortable positions whether in bed, in a wheelchair, recliner, or regular chair.
•Make beds, keeping linens as tight as possible to prevent wrinkles from forming under the resident.
•Collect specimens as instructed.
•Follow Standard Precautions; use Personal Protective Equipment appropriately.
•Check and report residents' bowel movements and character of stools.
•Maintain intake and output records when instructed.
•Follow PCLR protocol in the care of the incontinent resident.
•Perform restorative procedures as instructed.
•Take and record resident vital signs as instructed.
•Provide care for assistive devices such as glasses, hearing aids, etc.
•Check residents routinely and frequently to ensure their personal needs are being met.
•Perform all tasks as directed, keeping resident / co-worker safety an extremely important factor in the performance of duties.
•Encourage as much independence in the resident as possible.
•Ensure that an adequate supply of individual and stock medications, supplies are on hand to meet the needs of the residents; report needs to Charge Nurse.
•Know the desired actions, side effects, and nursing considerations for all medications administered.
•Report to the charge Nurse when untoward effects or side effects are observed.
•Consult with a licensed nurse before administering a PRN medication.
•Report any medication discrepancies to the Charge Nurse or Supervisor.
•Ensure narcotic records are accurate by counting these medications at the beginning of your shift with the off-going shift; again, at the end of your shift with the on-coming shift. Report any discrepancy to the Charge Nurse or Supervisor. If count is not correct, you must stay to assist in finding discrepancy.
•Perform treatments according to the physician orders and nursing protocol.
•Use sterile and clean techniques correctly.
•Prepare and give enemas as directed. Report and document results.
•Document administration of medications and treatments as per facility policies and procedures.
Requirements:
Must have Kansas CNA/CMA certification
Long term care experience preferred
