JOB SUMMARY
Planner II reviews and processes Administrative Permits, Conditional Use Permits, Steep Slope Conditional Use Permits, and Subdivisions/Plat Amendments. Provides information to the public regarding planning, zoning, and land use regulations. Provides over-the-counter assistance to applicants and members of the public.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES
Maintains a thorough understanding of the City’s Land Management Code and General Plan and may assist with updates to the Land Management Code and/or General Plan, as directed by the Planning Director.
Conducts technical analysis for complex planning applications, including Conditional Use Permits, Steep Slope Conditional Use Permits, Subdivision/Plat Amendments, and other planning applications as required.
Coordinates with the Planning Director and City Attorney’s Office regarding noticing requirements, Land Management Code amendments, planning recommendations, and land use applications.
Prepares detailed staff reports regarding land use applications and presents materials to the Appeal Panel, Board of Adjustment, Planning Commission, City Council, and other organizations.
Coordinates with other departments within the City to obtain technical information and recommendations relating to specific projects and programs requiring interdepartmental cooperation.
Answers community questions related to zoning, land use, site requirements, architectural review, and Land Management Code regulations.
Performs research and prepares written and graphic material necessary for special planning studies and Land Management Code amendments.
Reviews and evaluates plans for proposed signage, including area, materials, colors, compatibility, and attachments.
Performs plan checks on submitted building plans for compliance with design, lot size, setback, and other land use requirements, and conducts site inspections to verify compliance.
Performs business license reviews for compliance with land use regulations.
Other duties as assigned or directed.
