Primary Purpose:

Provide support to Project Director and Kawailoa Evaluator in research implementation and data analysis related to opportunity youth.

Essential Duties:

  • Support coordination of meetings/research logistics and research project implementation;
  • Assist with research participant recruitment, including scheduling and follow up;
  • Assist with qualitative data – e.g., key informant interview data collection, data management, data analysis, report writing (including data visualization and infographics);
  • Assist with quantitative data – survey development, data collection, data management, data analysis, report writing;
  • Develop and maintain communication resources, including dashboards;
  • Conduct literature searches and reviews on relevant best practices and evaluative approaches;
  • Assist with conference and/or manuscript preparation/submission, poster/presentation dissemination;
  • Assist with training and professional development – curriculum development & refinement, coordinating activities, and implementation & evaluation;
  • Maintain electronic files and folders with up to date documents and record of project milestones;
  • Provide administrative support including scheduling, photocopying, scanning, filing, coordinating and/or documenting meetings.

Other duties as assigned.

Work Hours:

  • 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or as otherwise determined by the supervisor;
  • Position requires regular and predictable attendance;
  • Some events on evenings or weekends at various times.

Working Conditions:

  • Office and/or partner or program sites;
  • Traveling in personal vehicle to and from program sites, meetings or events;
  • Travel to the neighbor islands and U.S. continent may be required.

Physical:

  • Able to work on the computer for majority of work day;
  • Able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds occasionally;
  • Able to stand, sit, kneel and bend.

Communication:

  • Exhibit courteous and professional demeanor towards program participants, staff and administration via verbal, written, physical, and electronic correspondence;
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four year college or university in the Social Sciences, Public Health, Public Policy or Social Welfare or related field;
  • One (1) year of progressively responsible work experience in related research;
  • One (1) year of qualitative and/or quantitative research and data experience;
  • One (1) year of experience working with community-based organizations, agencies and stakeholders in Hawai’i related to positive youth development and/or community health/development;
  • Experience creating functional workbooks, tables, and charts in Excel;
  • Familiarity with various research methods and related protocols;
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.);
  • Must have access to a vehicle, have a valid driver's license, a safe and responsible driving record, and current no-fault auto insurance, with at least $100K in bodily injury liability per person and $25K in property damage liability.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience in small group discussion facilitation and focus group interviews;
  • Two to three (2-3) years of progressively responsible work experience in related research, and experience working in positive youth development or behavioral health services.
