We are currently seeking a Paralegal I for a 3-month assignment to support the DWP Division.
**Must have Paralegal Certificate**
Duties/Responsibilities:
The Paralegal I will work closely with Branch attorneys and perform paralegal assignments typical of complex, document intensive litigation. This includes eDiscovery, cite checking briefs, preparing exhibits, assisting with discovery responses and document productions, summarizing deposition transcripts, gathering necessary documents and interviewing City employees and third parties. The Paralegal may also be assigned to assist with preparing motions, memos and pleadings, to perform legal research using Westlaw and other research tools, and to analyze and organize documents and exhibits. The Paralegal may also be assigned to work with City clients and third parties to ensure the completion of required assignments in a timely manner. The Paralegal may also be assigned routine paralegal and administrative duties, including but not limited to CityLaw entries.
Requirements:
Paralegal Certificate;
This position requires a person who is self-motivated, can learn quickly, exercise independent judgment and work with minimum supervision. The applicant must have good organizational skills, be able to work well with other employees of this office and personnel from other agencies and from the offices of opposing counsel. Applicants should be proficient with software such as Adobe, Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to lift boxes (up to 25 lbs.) containing case files;
The hours for this position are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Reliable attendance and punctuality are mandatory.
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA 90012
Must report to location daily. No remote work. Parking is not provided.
