Wound Care Nurse

Responsibilities and duties:

Provide excellent nursing care to all patients requiring wound care.

Initiate nursing care procedures in wound management

Provide care to all applicable patients that will efficiently and optimally address all wound care needs of the customer, including all necessary and appropriate documentation

Round on all applicable patients weekly in conjunction with ARNP/MD

Assess wounds, create and implement treatment plans under the supervision of ARNP/MD

Assist and evaluate patients with acute and chronic wounds and injuries

Monitor wound infections and notify appropriate personnel accordingly.

Complete wound care assessment, treatment and documentation on all assigned patients on wound care log weekly and as necessary.

Possess the skills and knowledge to determine necessity for surgical debridement of wounds.

Provide staff education regarding proper wound care assessment, infection control and interventions for prevention and treatment of wounds.

Provide the appropriate audits and documentation deemed necessary for accreditation and state regulations.

Update care plans accordingly for each patient assigned per wound log weekly and as necessary.
