General Description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A SURVEY AND MAPPING TECHNICIAN - PLAT REVIEW!
Computer Assisted Drafting work in the preparation of surveys and right-of-way plans.

Essential Job Functions

Downloads and processes field data collection from data collectors and field raw files into CADD and Cogo software (Carlson). Fixes and Completes all line work in Carlson/ACAD and then pulls data into Civil 3D, and creates and produces a 3D surface, and prepares final CADD drawing files for delivery. Reduces field notes, balances traverses, reduces and adjust bench runs, runs closures, calculates sectional breakdowns, calculates acreages and other various trigonometric and geometric calculations. Prepares coordinates, coordinate work sheets, preliminary and final right-of-way maps, legal descriptions and sketches, boundary, quantity, location, and topographic survey maps and sketches. Researches and keeps track of benchmarks, legal descriptions, and sketches. Performs duties of survey party team member in the field if required (5%). Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to make accurate and neat drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of advanced and Surveying mathematics including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Knowledge of drafting and Surveying principles.
  • Skilled in the use of AutoCAD and coordinate geometry software, i.e. Carlson.
  • Ability to analyze specifically assigned problems, gather and organize the pertinent data, and arrive at valid conclusions.
  • Ability to operate a computer, proficient with DOS/Windows, AutoCAD 2000 or higher, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects.

Minimum Requirements

PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Ability to work outdoors. Requires walking, stooping, and bending.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school, vocational school, or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. College level courses in surveying, engineering, geometry, or trigonometry preferred. Two (2) years of survey calculating experience which includes working with AutoCAD and a PC based COGO software.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
