As a Construction & Rehab Technician, you'll be the hands-on force behind our construction and rehabilitation efforts across multiple locations. Reporting to the Construction & Rehab Manager, your role ensures quality work on all rehab projects. You'll apply your construction skills and ensure compliance with the latest building standards and state and local codes. Working closely with the manager, you will focus on making tangible improvements and upholding high standards in every project you tackle. If you're ready to put your construction expertise to work in a role where quality and precision matter, we'd like to meet you.

Your main tasks will involve taking on rehab projects under the direction of the Construction & Rehab Manager, where your day-to-day could range from drywall installation and basic plumbing and electrical work to painting, framing, and kitchen remodels. You'll need to be handy with various tools, including reading a tape measure and level, and operating drills and hand tools to ensure each project is completed with attention to detail and quality craftsmanship. Along with your project work, you're expected to manage receipts for purchases, keep the job site and tools tidy, and maintain the organization of the work vehicle. Additionally, you'll oversee the maintenance and upkeep of forty-five rental properties in Southeast Fort Wayne and be on call for any maintenance emergencies across all rental and rehab properties, as needed. This role is about more than just the tasks at hand; it's about bringing skill, order, and responsibility to every aspect of the job.

Requirements

Preferred Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma/GED.
  • Minimum of three years in the construction industry.
  • Practical knowledge of quality building construction with experience in framing, trim work, drywall work, siding, painting, roof repair/replacement, basic plumbing, and an eye for detail.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Basic language, written, and computer skills necessary for communication and documentation.
  • Ability to teach others construction knowledge and quality craft at an efficient pace with honesty and integrity with all rehab projects.
  • Valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, and safe driving record.
  • Ability to speak, hear, and read the English language.
  • Essential physical skills: be able to run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds.
