Paul J. Ford & Company - Structural Engineers is Hiring a Business Development Manager Near Columbus, OH

Position SummaryThe Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the business development plans for the Buildings and Power market sectors. This includes developing new clients, expanding existing client opportunities, and working with marketing staff to achieve development plan objectives. In addition, this position will review and analyze information to develop new initiatives, partnerships, and strategies to develop new clients and increase revenue for each market sector.
Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain business development plans to measure the performance of the
effort and report to management.
  • Responsible for developing new business opportunities, client relationships, and winning project proposals.
∙ Research, plan, and attend market-specific events day and evening.
  • Attend project interviews, client meetings, and presentations.
  • Maintain database for leads, prospective clients, and project proposals.
  • Prepare proposals by coordinating with appropriate managers and staff.
  • Responsible for following up on leads, calls, correspondence, presentation of proposals, and after completion of each job.
  • Determine the marketing materials needed to achieve the objectives of the business development plan and coordinate the
production of the materials with marketing staff.
  • Serve as client contact.
  • Develop and implement client appreciation events for strategic client accounts.
  • Develop and implement community involvement activities that benefit the community while promoting the company’s image within
the community.
  • Conduct client and project opportunity research.
∙ Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with management and staff.
∙ Organize and conduct client development training for assigned staff to promote excellent customer service and increase repeat work
opportunities.
∙ Build a positive company image.
∙ Join and participate in professional organizations to promote Paul J. Ford and Company
∙ Participate in company meetings for discussion, coordination, critique, and training.
∙ Complete special projects and other reasonable business-related duties as requested and delegated by the President and/or CFO.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities∙ Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop long-term client relationships based on trust and mutual respect.
  • Have a basic knowledge of contract standards and overall pricing strategy.
∙ Excellent time management skills.
∙ Must follow thru on commitments.
∙ Ability to prioritize work assignments with critical deadlines.
∙ Highly motivated, strategic thinker with excellent negotiation skills.
∙ Conscientious and flexible with a strong work ethic, integrity, and team-player attitude.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Minimum Qualifications∙ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
∙ At least 5 years of experience in the A/E/C industry.
∙ Must have a clear understanding of the services PJF provides and the application of these
services in the marketplace.
∙ Possess a valid driver’s license.

∙ This position requires traveling to the client’s location, seminars, tradeshows, etc.
∙ This job is sometimes considered a sedentary role, however, standing, walking, sitting,
reaching with hands and arms, stooping or kneeling, talking and hearing is required.
∙ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and
hear.
∙ Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to
adjust focus.
∙ Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
∙ This job operates in a professional office environment.
