Paynesville Area Community Education is in search of PAWS Assistants for the 2023-24 Summer.JOB SUMMARY: Assist the Site Leader in meeting the mission of the PAWS School Age Child Care Program for the residents of the Paynesville Area School District. ASSIGNMENT: June 3 - August 16 Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Community Education. % of Time Major Areas Of Accountability100% Works cooperatively with the PAWS Site Leader & PAWS Coordinator to plan, implement, and evaluate, program activities and the environment.
Independent supervision and behavior management of a group of children
Guiding and providing direction to PAWS High School Program Aides.
Responsibilities will include, but are not be limited to supervising school-age children at all times
Keeping program supplies and snacks in order and inform coordinator when they are running low.
Participate in all activities with children.
Attend staff meetings and training programs.
Keeping PAWS Site Leader and PAWS Coordinator informed of any accidents or unusual situations involving the children
Keeping communication open with PAWS Site Leader, PAWS Coordinator and Community
Education Director concerning questions or concerns. Critical Skills/ExpertisePhysical Involvement:
Requires vitality to accomplish numerous tasks and processes.
Position requires extended periods of standing when directing or leading an activity.
Occasionally requires extended periods of sitting during meetings and desk work.
Frequently requires bending, stooping, or sitting on the floor to perform classroom activities or to provide one on one assistance.
Frequently performs keyboarding activities for program planning.
May lift equipment or supplies typically not to exceed 25 pounds.
Mental Involvement
Position requires working with many children who have varying levels of abilities and skills.
Position requires the ability to work with interruptions, handle multiple tasks and organize and prioritize work assignments.
Position requires interpersonal and conflict resolution skills in dealing with students and parents.
Position requires prioritizing work duties, organizing classroom settings, and taking initiative to explore new activities and ideas to enhance student learning.
Working ConditionsNormal classroom conditions with periods of outdoor recreation programming and supervision. Staff Management
Assist the PAWS Site Leader in guiding and providing direction to PAWS High School Program Aides
Public Relations
Become familiar with the social and economic character of the community.
Establish a good working relationship with the school staff, community organizations and District 741 residents.
Help promote awareness of PAWS Programs & Activities within the community.
Administration
Participate in the development of long range program goals for the PAWS Program.
Assist the PAWS Site Leader, PAWS Coordinator & Director in evaluating PAWS Program Offerings.
EducationMIMUMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience
Childcare programming experience preferred
Special Knowledge Or Skills
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to follow directions.
First Aid training is required for all PAWS employees
Projects a positive, cooperative and respectful attitude with community members, program participants, parents, students and other employees.
Support the community education philosophy to the public.
