Here's how a Senior Buyer for our Civil Infrastructure office contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Interacting with suppliers and company personnel
- Determining best cost and availability of materials and equipment
- Creating and issuing Purchase Orders, and entering PO details
- Supporting estimating as the lead with price support for materials and services, leading preparation of supplemental estimates (temporary power / cranes / heat / equipment spread) and participating in estimating meetings and bid closing.
- Administers formal bid process (e.g., Requests for Quote (RFQ), technical and commercial review, bid conditioning, award); negotiates procurement details with suppliers, including contract terms and conditions and administration of the agreement throughout their term.
- Writing equipment and tool transfers
- Managing equipment and tool inventory
- Other duties as assigned
- 4-6 years of progressive experience as a Buyer or other related purchasing experience
- Postsecondary diploma/degree in a related discipline an asset (e.g., business, supply chain management, logistics, warehouse distribution).
- Advanced construction knowledge; understands specifications, methods, and procedures. Involved in strategy, planning, and training/mentoring others.
- Strong computer literacy; experience with relevant tools and technology (software and hardware); ability to train others on program and help develop new tools.
- Ability to prioritize and manage tasks with minimal direct supervision
- Strong negotiating skills and awareness of impact on company and projects. Able to mentor and train others on different techniques
- Customer Service oriented approach to field personnel
