PDCS, LLC is Hiring a Residential Building Inspector - Sumter County Area Near Wildwood, FL

This position involves technical work inspecting building construction at residential construction sites for enforcement of appropriate building codes regulating building construction, alterations and repairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct field inspections of work in progress or completed projects under approved building permits for conformance with the Florida Building Code, and other national and local codes and ordinances.
  • Maintain record of completed inspections.
  • Provide building code compliance advice and consult with architects, engineers, general and specialty contractors and homeowners.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of building codes and related laws and ordinances.
  • Knowledge of various types of building construction materials and methods and stages of construction in order to be able to determine when violations and defects may most easily be observed and corrected.
  • Ability to respond to various parties in a courteous and professional manner, regardless of the circumstances.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of mathematical concepts as related to this position.
  • Ability to identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions that are in accordance with laws, ordinances, and established principles.
  • Ability to follow and interpret instructions furnished in written, mathematical, graphical and oral format.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with software applications appropriate to this position (Word, Excel, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must hold a Standard Certificate as an Inspector in one and two family dwelling, issued by the Florida Building Code Administration and Inspection Board, in accordance with the provisions set forth in Florida Statute 468 or licensed as an architect or engineer in the State of Florida.
  • Required experience in the completion residential building inspections. Computer skills required for this position.
  • Must possess or obtain, prior to employment, a valid Florida Operator's License.
  • Five (5) years’ experience as an inspector.
