Peabody Hotels & Resorts is Hiring a Laundry Technician Near Memphis, TN

Description
  1. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
  2. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
  3. Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
  4. Always maintain positive guest relations.
  5. Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  6. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
  7. Receive daily work assignments from Director of Engineering/Chief Engineer.
  8. Organize materials, tools, and equipment to perform daily assignments.
  9. Maintain timelines and work schedule in accordance with the preventative maintenance program.
  10. Check work orders and night report for any problems. Make rounds checking these problem areas and note any information needed or safety concerns in the hotel.
  11. Schedule work in accordance with preventative maintenance program, coordinating with the Executive Housekeeper and Executive Chef.
  12. Maintain par stock levels of standard fixtures, wiring, and other supplies.
  13. Perform plumbing service, including but not limited to, the operation, maintenance, repair or replacement of the property's plumbing equipment and systems.
  14. Perform laundry services, including but not limited to the operation, maintenance, repair or replacement of the property's laundry equipment and systems, which include:
  • dry cleaning machines and equipment.
  • air compressors.
  • flat ironer.
  • water heater.
  1. Perform varying services, including but not limited to, the operation, maintenance, repair or replacement of the property's equipment, which include:
  • water softeners.
  • lint collector.
  1. Calibrate thermostats.
  2. Clean orifice and adjust gas pressure.
  3. Perform preventative maintenance on laundry equipment (gas, steam, and electric).
  4. Install new gas equipment when required.
  5. Prepare and complete all logs, service requests, paperwork, etc., as required.
  6. Maintain complete working knowledge of the latest techniques in laundry and kitchen equipment installation, maintenance, replacement, or repair.
  7. Maintain the proper use, cleaning, maintenance, and storage of all tools.
  8. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work areas to include:
  • requisition (receipt and storage).
  • trash removal.
  1. Handle chemicals for designated uses/surfaces.
  2. Ensure security of any assigned keys.
  3. Initiate cost estimates of labor and materials for specific projects.
  4. Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving. Review status of assignments and any follow-up actions with the Supervisor.
  5. Ensure lint traps are inspected daily.
Requirements
  1. Minimum 2 years experience as a commercial mechanic.
  2. Working knowledge of laundry equipment.
  3. Must have plumbing, electrical, and mechanical background.
  4. Working knowledge of:
  • plumbing codes.
  • electrical codes health.
  • national/local fire codes.
  • local mechanical codes.
  • water treatment programs.
  • blueprints and wiring schematics.
  • power and hand tools, meters, etc., as they relate to the technical trades.
  1. Fluency in job-related English, both verbal and written.
  2. Provide legible communication and directions.
  3. Compute basic mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers in processing charges).
  4. Ability to:
  • read and interpret schematics and diagrams of equipment.
  • interpret manufacturer's literature for installation, preparation, use and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property.
  • be well-organized and follow instructions.

Desirable:
  1. High school graduate or equivalent vocational training.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Essential:
  1. Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
  2. Ability to push and/or pull carts weighing approximately 75-100
  3. Ability to lift and move approximately 100
  4. Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb and reach.
  5. Ability to operate and control heavy equipment (for example: dish machine, electric pallet and trash compactor).
  6. Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
  7. Ability to perform tasks requiring sustained repetitive motion (for example: Loading/unloading dishwasher, stoking and sweeping.
  8. Ability to move freely within the laundry areas.
  9. Ability to lift, carry and store in overhead areas approximately 35-50
