This is a support level position that will provide Peace River Center staff and clients assistance as needed. These services will include finding and securing individual apartments, linkage to community resources as appropriate, and assisting with independent living skills/needs. excellent written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

• Help recipients find and secure individual apartments.
• Visit the recipients' apartments to teach functional living skills one - on - one.
• Assist recipients in accessing community resources as appropriate
• As necessary, transport recipients in Peace River Center van.
• Assist recipients in establishing and obtaining personal goals and objectives
• Develop individual service plans.
• Teach recipients functional living skills needed to establish and maintain community residence.
• Teach the recipients problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Manage productivity hours to meet requirements for direct service with recipients.
• Assist recipients in managing their personal finances.

Essential Duties/Requirements/Activities:

• Complete daily documentation in accordance with agency standards.
• In the event of an emergency or disaster, a person in this position may be required to remain on site around the clock until relief staff arrives and supervisory staff gives permission to leave the facility.

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

Prefer 6 months residential services experience.

Certifications:

None

Training:

10 hours professional enhancement training annually including all PRC required training.

Have a home phone or effective alternate means of communication

Ability to successfully complete ACT, CPR and First Aid training.

Knowledge and Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work with a high degree of independence.

Effective interpersonal skill.

Effective problem solving skills.

An employee in this position must be able to react to change productively and be flexible.

Transportation:

Minimum 25 years of age in order to be insurable under Peace River Center Liability Insurance

Must have reliable transportation

Clean driving record

Ability to pass Florida DMV license check

Must maintain $50/100 insurance requirements for Peace River Center designated patient drivers

Must be able to pass the DOT physical

Must be able to pass the Peace River Center driving test administered by Transportation Manager

Computer, telephone, fax, copier, cell phone, pager, car/van, household appliances, hammer and plunger.

Work Environment:

The work environment is fast-paced and consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. The populations cared for will include patients who are confused, delusional, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. A small amount of travel may be required for meetings etc. to another PRC location.
