PEAK Technical Staffing USA is Hiring a Senior Lead Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer Near Charleston, WV

Overview

As a Lead Senior Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer, you will provide instrumentation/controls and supervise an electrical engineering team on projects by directing project execution activities and department deliverable creation for one larger or several smaller projects. You will be accountable for the safe/sustainable engineering, quality, cost, and schedule delivery of all work by the I&E team. Position completes I&E technical work for projects, as required and time permits.

This is a Contract to Direct position

Hours: Flexible: 4-10's or 4-9's, and 4

(No relocation assistance available)

Must be a local candidate or able to relocate (without assistance) within two weeks of an accepted offer. - NO Corp to Corp or Sponsorship

  • Must have at 7 years of Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering experience as well as having leadership/management experience of engineers

Overview

As a Lead Senior Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer, you will provide instrumentation/controls and often electrical team supervision on projects by directing project execution activities and department deliverable creation for one larger or several smaller projects. You will be accountable for the safe/sustainable engineering, quality, cost, and schedule delivery of all work by the discipline team. Position completes discipline technical work for projects, as required and time permits.

Qualifications:

  • Must have Leadership experience managing Engineers and/or Designers? (This role will start with at least 1-3 direct reports that will be located in Charleston and overseas)
  • Experience specifying instrumentation for level, pressure, temperature, flow, weight, analyzers, etc.
  • Substantial technical and practical experience in instrument and controls and/or electrical engineering in the same or similar industry including experience in working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
  • Experience with Safety Integrated Systems and performing SIL calculations.
  • Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills with experience in the polymer industry, or in a Chemical Plant.
  • Ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate, and timely work to our client and its customers.
  • A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of instrument and controls engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
  • Substantial technical and practical experience in instrument and controls and/or electrical engineering in the same or similar industry including experience in working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
  • Experience specifying Distributed Control Systems (ABB, Client, DeltaV, Ovation, etc.) and Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen-Bradley, Automation Direct, Client, etc.).
  • Experience writing control narratives from which programmers can develop code.
  • Experience with Safety Integrated Systems and performing SIL calculations.
  • Competent use of electrical, instrument, and controls engineering specific software such as:

InstruCalc, SPI, Aveva Instrumentation, Fisher Specification Manager, SILsolver, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Navisworks, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, SPEL, DIALux, and TraceCalc Pro

  • A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.

Lead Senior Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer Job Duties:

  • Supports and leads a team of supporting engineers and designers to complete project deliverables.
  • Schedules and directs projects within the Electrical-Instrumentation-Controls Department.
  • Determines scope of work, job objectives, and work-hour budgets on projects assigned to the group in concurrence with the Department Manager.
  • Performs and reviews the analysis and design activities in completing complex engineering design projects from general drawings and instructions.
  • Directs other engineers, designers, and drafters in the production of construction drawing packages.
  • Provides detailed instrumentation and control designs for distributed control systems, programmable logic controllers, loop diagrams, instrument location plans, junction box layouts, marshalling panel layouts, conduit and cable schedules, instrument indexes, input/output lists, and installation details using company standards and drafting techniques.
  • Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy and constructability of finished designs.
  • Performs thorough checks of Instrumentation design packages following required checking procedures.
  • Ensures any changes complies with project change management processes.
  • Assists during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Mentors and helps grow the department in experience and resources.
  • Keeps current with the latest developments and technical innovations in instrument and controls engineering.
  • Communicates effectively with the electrical, instrument, and controls engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
  • Provides input to P&ID’s including instrument selection.

Required Education:

  • BSEE or BSCE

Preferred:

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
  • Registered professional engineering credentials.
