The University of Iowa healthcare Department of Nursing is seeking a 100% Clinical Coordinator for the Pediatric Specialty Clinic, Urology team.

This position will provide nursing leadership and oversight for the pediatric urology specialized patient care populations that are served within the Pediatric Specialty Clinic, Outreach, and Iowa River Landing locations. Uses their clinical nursing expertise to optimize nursing and healthcare through management of quality, design of informatics and active participation in the decision-making process.The nurse will facilitate communications between medical staff, management, patients and/or family to provide excellent customer service. This position will serve as the clinical resource for pediatric urology and liaison role to provide the dissemination of information and education to clinical care team.

Responsibilities: 

• Collaborateswithnursing,medicalstaffandotherhealthprofessionalsinthedevelopmentandreviewofstandardsandinplanning,implementing,andevaluatingpatientcareforthe pediatric urology patientpopulation regardingtheconditionandageofthepatient
• IndependentlycoordinatesandfacilitatespatientcarebetweenmultipledisciplineswithinboththeconfinesofUIHCandthecommunity(includinghomehealthagencies,referringphysiciansandothercommunitysupport services)
• Coordinates patient care to better utilize supportive services through patient visit and possible admission, pre-schedules testing, follows up with test results to both patient and physician, obtains medical history, coordinates follow up visit appointment, provides medication, rehab teaching, etc
• Facilitates care of pediatric urology patients requiring admission, coordinating necessary admission procedures, pre and post procedure care
• Operatesautonomouslyincommunicatingwithmembersofthehealthcareteamdirectingpatientcareandprovidingcontinuityofcareacrosssettingsthroughoutthephasesofcare
• Performs telephone triage of patient calls to the Urology service and facilitates medication refills as needed
• Collaborates with nursing, medical staff, and other health professionals in planning, delivering, and evaluating care for specialty patient populations
• Provides direct patient cate/nurse triage responsibilities as needed throughout the PSC
• Performsclinicalduties,specialprojectsandothertasksasneeded.

Percent of Time: 100%
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 hour shifts between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. No holidays, no weekends. Location: University Campus
Pay Grade: 4B
