Description
Coordinate activities of workers concerned with receiving, inventorying, picking, and preparing products for same day receiving and shipping both nationally and internationally.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Plant Manager by identifying work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow.
- Issue written and oral instructions.
- Examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to customer’s shipping and packaging requests and procedures.
- Standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers.
- Maintain harmony among workers and resolve grievances.
- Ensure correct shipment of all jobs have been completely processed and verified accurate through quality.
- Monitor material handlers, forklift drivers, and CDL drivers for productivity.
- Constant communication with our suppliers and internal departments to ensure on time delivery.
- Interaction with our vendors and the sales department to address their needs, inquiries and requests.
- Ship priority jobs and ensure all necessary paperwork is shipped with all jobs.
- Review and monitor production schedules for most accurate results with consideration to capacity levels, efficiency, etc.
- Reviewing and monitoring ordering systems and acting on order releases to meet our overall goal of customer satisfaction, while ensuring compliance with our company policy.
- All other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises the Material Handlers, Forklift Drivers and CDL Drivers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - Requires a minimum of 3 years of shipping/receiving experience or equivalent specialized training and/or work experience.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of production control processes and procedures.
- Good problem solving skills in general and in math
- Ability to read and speak English
- Must have basic knowledge of the metric system
- Must work in and develop a 5S environment
- Must have working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
- Ability to maneuver up to 200 lbs. independently
- Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. without assistance
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (Accounting B.S. or B.A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. TRAVEL Ability to travel out of state for training as needed
