See what Pekin Insurance has to offer by viewing a short video here.The RoleAs a Software Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of creating and supporting innovative applications that empower end-users to manage their data and processes with ease. You'll work hand-in-hand with Analysts, Product Owners, and Product Managers to deeply understand business requirements and transform them into user-friendly features, user stories, and components. Leveraging your expertise in DevOps and Agile methodologies, you'll drive the analysis and design of technical solutions, delivering desired functionality quickly and efficiently while continuously iterating and improving. From user experience (UX) planning to deployment, you'll own the entire development lifecycle, ensuring code integrity, organization, and adherence to security best practices.
What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, features, and user stories
  • Design and develop high-quality, production-ready software in small, iterative increments
  • Leverage advanced techniques like design thinking and journey mapping to enhance user experience
  • Contribute to the development of team backlogs, architectural roadmaps, and Kanban management
  • Participate in program increment planning, demos, and continuous improvement events
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve escalated support issues, applying proactive maintenance activities
  • Evaluate existing applications and platforms, identifying opportunities for performance optimization
  • Foster innovation by driving creativity, agility, and out-of-the-box thinking
  • Explore and implement automation and orchestration technologies
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in IT Engineering, Computer Science, Business Management, Mathematics, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or Information Sciences (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-8 years of relevant experience in software development or advanced technical/business work
  • Deep experience with Sitefinity CMS platform, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), Agile, and automated deployment best practices (preferred)
  • Expertise in modern web development technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Proficiency in front-end (Angular, React, Vue.js, JavaScript) and back-end (.NET, Java) programming languages/tools
  • Strong understanding of databases, code versioning tools, and architectural components
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with designers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Relevant certification is required
