Penguin Random House is Hiring a Studio Assistant/Associate, Crown (Hybrid) Near New York, NY

Penguin Random House is seeking a Studio Assistant/Associate to join the Crown art department. This role will report to the Creative Director and support the Art Department for the Crown and Currency imprints on a wide range of administrative and project management tasks. In this role, you’ll act as the point-person for design-related tasks and as a liaison to other departments, vendors, and external partners, helping to ensure that all day-to-day operations are running smoothly.

  • Provide administrative support to the Creative Director and Art Department as needed
  • Liaise with and field requests from other in-house departments
  • Communicate project status updates on a regular basis and attend department status meetings
  • Proactively identify potential project issues or roadblocks and escalate as needed
  • Identify, disseminate, and track upcoming visual deadlines to the team
  • Clear cover rights with stock agencies and freelance designers
  • Maintain and manage departmental database
  • Coordinate, schedule, and take meeting minutes for weekly cover meetings
  • Manage, submit, and code purchase orders and invoices
  • Process receipts for internal expenses
  • Send proofs and books to artists and designers
Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of prior experience
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as you’ll work across multiple departments and levels
  • Proactive; ability to provide timely follow through on projects
  • Basic understanding of Acrobat, InDesign, and Photoshop is a plus
  • Knowledge of FileMaker Pro a plus
This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities, which will include but not be limited to, participating in and contributing to in-person meetings and providing office support by scheduling meetings, prepping for department and cover art meetings, mailing press proofs, and more. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT, & PA).
The salary for the Assistant-level position is $48,000. The salary for the Associate-level is $53,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.Penguin Random House job postings include a good faith compensation range for each open position. The salary range listed is specific to each particular open position and takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
