Role Description

The Plant Security Guard is responsible for ensuring that appropriate procedures are followed with regard to inbound raw materials and outbound finished goods as described in the company's quality system. The Plant Security Guard is responsible for ensuring security of plant personnel.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Greets all visitors, contractors, and vendors in a courteous and professional manner ensuring they are authorized to enter the facility, know how to get to the appropriate location in the facility, and are appropriately briefed on the necessary safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintains logs of entrance activities as directed by the EH&S Manager/Director.
  • Directs truck drivers hauling inbound raw materials or picking up outbound finished goods, to appropriate loading area.
  • Responsible for operating truck scales to weigh loaded incoming raw materials and finished goods for delivery.
  • Monitor contractor safety training certifications and ensure they are current for working onsite.
  • Responsible for plant fire safety system. Verify that fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, showers, eyewash stations and other safety equipment are in working order. Conducts monthly inspection of fire equipment.
  • Engage with third party vendors for repair and testing of fire equipment and ensuring testing meeting compliance requirements. This includes required annual testing.
  • Answer alarms and investigates disturbances. Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Engage with third party security vendors to complete all security system inspections are completed and coordinate any repairs, updates, or changes through completion as required.
  • Patrol plant premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
  • Provide guidance and support to contract Security personnel as needed.
  • Maintain fire system and security equipment documentation. Continually update training and guidance documentation.
  • Continue to provide plant firewater system, security system, and truck weighing training to identified support personnel. Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and contact police when violators need to be removed from premises with force.
  • Participate in annual insurance property surveys, fire department visits and inspections.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience and Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, and in the chemical industry a plus.
  • A minimum of 3 – 5 yrs. experience in a related position is desired but not required.
