WHAT YOU WILL DO:

This multi-functional position encompasses various responsibilities, including:

  • Shipping: Assist the shipping clerk in preparing parts and tools for shipping to customers and suppliers. Tasks include preparing parts, coating parts, assembling shipping boxes/containers, boxing parts, and delivering parts and components to customers and suppliers.
  • Receiving: Coordinate the receipt of all incoming parts and components into the facility, including receipts from shipping carriers and outside processing suppliers. Document the receipt of materials into the Business Operating System.
  • Internal Forklift Operation
  • External Driving
  • Product Etching: Identify and label all products with required traceability information, using manual etching or an automatic tracing machine.
  • Outside Processing: Coordinate the distribution of products to and from supplier locations, including negotiating pricing and lead times, and resolving any issues with suppliers.

These roles require the movement and handling of products using power and manual pallet jacks and/or power lift trucks. Additionally, maintaining proper product identification, documentation, and storage is essential.

Associates must also answer customer telephone calls regarding their functions, ensuring the highest level of customer service by following procedures, maintaining accuracy in inventory transactions, excellent recordkeeping, fulfilling all pick slips, and associated computer entries and paperwork. Providing excellent customer service through safe and efficient receipt and delivery of products is crucial.

Shipping and Receiving:

  • Sign for and receive raw materials, inspect packages for damage, uncrate and inspect contents, count items, and compare them to invoices. Report errors to the area supervisor.
  • Pull products from stock, move and consolidate inventory to the shipping area, supporting on-time goals.
  • Store products in the warehouse upon receipt from intercompany purchases.
  • Ensure proper product identification, customer requirements, and adherence to procedures to prevent mixing or contamination.
  • Move products within the facility using electric power jacks, hand pallet jacks, and forklifts. Follow all safety requirements when transferring products between containers.
  • Communicate courteously and tactfully with customers and suppliers over the telephone regarding deliveries and quality.
  • Document transactions in the Business Operating System to ensure traceability.
  • Complete required documentation accurately.
  • Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement activities.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Utilize UPS, Federal Express, and US mail processing equipment as necessary.
  • Pack and prepare skids of products for motor freight shipment as necessary.
  • Communicate with freight carriers as necessary.
  • Follow appropriate work instructions.
  • Operate power tools and other machinery while adhering to strict safety guidelines.

Etching:

  • Use the Cobalt Pro Laser etching machine to follow customer-specific guidelines for etching tool numbers, revision numbers, job numbers, material grades, and shipment dates onto parts.
  • Maintain customer-specific data in the Cobalt etching machine.
  • Follow appropriate work instructions.

Other Duties:

  • Complete assigned tasks, functions, and special projects, including picking and packing products, in a timely manner.
  • Read and understand written work instructions, maintain legible handwriting.
  • Identify, contain, and follow all non-conformance procedures if a defective condition is found, including verifying and escalating package damage and verifying package counts.
  • Keep work areas always organized and clean.
  • Observe all safety regulations in all duties.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Previous experience driving a forklift. State of Michigan certification required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver 35 pounds on a skid multiple times per hour.
  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs. from floor to waist and waist to floor, up to 25 times per hour.
  • Must be able to stand throughout the entire shift.
