The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the plan for the perioperative patient. Another vital function of the RN is to serve as a patient advocate during times of vulnerability by utilizing required nursing critical thinking skills, and practical experience regarding the care of the OR patient.

Penn State Health Milton S Hershey Medical Center is central Pennsylvania’s only academic medical center, and Level I Trauma Center for both adult and pediatric patients, making it an amazing place to grow and maintain a rich, lifelong nursing career.
The operating room suites consist of 35 operating rooms and 4 procedure rooms, where approximately 30,000 surgeries are performed annually, including but not limited to general, vascular, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic, orthopedic, ENT, transplantation, gynecology, urology, plastic and reconstructive, and pediatric surgeries of all kinds.
