Are you an experienced travel professional looking to apply your expertise to a new challenge within the industry? MTI Events is seeking a creative, organized, and personable individual to join our team to assist clients with group air arrangements at the best possible price and schedule.
The Travel Specialist will work with groups of 10 passengers booking who require airline reservations. The Travel Specialist will serve as a liaison between the airline and the client booking, ticketing and negotiating special airfare rates and managing all deadlines and financials. They will also book and assist with securing hotel accommodations, rail passes, car rentals, and other products as requested.
What You'll Be Doing

• Work directly with clients to assess and meet their group flight needs.
• Research all possible options and communicate with the airlines to negotiate acceptable rates and arrange contracts.
• Book and ticket flights utilizing Travelport computer system.
• Communicate and assist clients outlining all applicable penalties and deadlines specific to airline bookings.
• Coordinate and develop flight itineraries, predeparture documents, and online registrations for group mailings prior to departure.
• Facilitate financial for billing purposes and work directly with clients. Assist Accounting with monthly reconciliation of credit card billing and if applicable, monitor any deposit refunds and/or credits from the airlines.
• Prepare Air Manifest list for Arrivals and Departure for each group.
• Monitor airline flights for both arrival and departures the day of travel and assist travelers with flight interruptions, delays and miss connection of flights.
• Assist the internal team with quoting air for proposal and other related responsibilities.
• Monitor industry trends via the trade press, destination/supplier literature, and attendance at supplier presentations. Participate in general business and travel industry specific seminars and workshops.

Skills You Need To Bring With You

• A high level of detail orientation with an eye for the detail
• Professional work experience in the travel industry, with a preference for those with group or corporate travel experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An aptitude for project management and attention to detail
• The ability to work well independently
• Super-efficient organization and time management skills, combine with a sincere sense of humor and the ability to laugh at yourself
• Great customer service and computer skills, Microsoft Office is our friend, and Excel and Word are our BFF's
• Knowledge and experience with an airline computer system - Travelport a plus
