Automation Technician

Pepper Source, Ltd. in Van Buren is seeking a 2nd Shift Maintenance Automation Technician with hands-on experience in equipment installation and electrical troubleshooting knowledge; minimal project management experience required.

Summary

The Maintenance Automation Technician reports to the Project Manager and is key to the success of our operations by ensuring that the mechanical, electrical, and project schedule components are safely, correctly, and efficiently conducted within the food safety and regulatory industry requirements. This position will assist in the development of project scope details, cost proposals, status, project organization and timeline, project management, and project status reporting.

Responsibilities

• Perform measurements of AC and DC voltage, resistance, amperage, and similar electrical power attributes, and perform continuity checks.
• Read and comprehend blueprints and repair manuals.
• Construct series and parallel circuits, including all related wiring and connections.
• Install, wire, and troubleshoot control devices such as P/I transducers, thermocouples, photoelectric and proximity sensors, switches, counters, relays, and OCPDs.
• General troubleshooting skills of standard food processing equipment.
• Strong VFD skills programming and installing new drives and controls and troubleshooting.
• Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repair on three-phase motors and control circuits.

Skills

• PLC troubleshooting and programming.
• Strong knowledge and skills relating to plumbing.
• Able to install new equipment.
• General knowledge of building construction.
• Pneumatic and hydraulic.
• Basic computer skills.
• **Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in hands-on industrial electrical maintenance work.
• Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting and repair of electrical motors, controls and PLCs.
• Education requirements: high school diploma or GED.
• Desired education and /or experience: 2-year Associates Degree in related fields or at least 4-years additional work experience in industrial manufacturing electrical maintenance work.

Additional Notes: Able to work daily and weekend overtime hours as needed. This job has no formal supervisory responsibilities but is expected to lead and guide other maintenance personnel in performing general maintenance and construction tasking as well as electronic and/or electrical installations, troubleshooting, and repairs. Contractor interaction skills are necessary.
