Job Summary:Food Safety Manager is responsible for managing food safety and quality programs by providing support and guidance to whole OpCo and operations management. Works closely with Logistics, Warehouse, and Inventory Managers to ensure the highest level of efficiency within the overall operation.
Job Responsibilities:- This role will be required to improve and drive our food safety and quality culture
- Monitors and evaluates the company's quarterly food safety & sanitation 3rd party audit program
- Communicates findings and trends to OpCo leadership by period
- Acts as advocate during interaction with regulatory agencies and industry food safety groups
- Establishes and maintains relationships with appropriate regulatory agencies in company operating geography
- Reviews and follows-up as necessary on all regulatory inspection reports pertaining to food safety, sanitation, weights & measures and food labeling
- Serves as subject matter expert to assist operations in resolving issues identified during quarterly food safety appraisals and regulatory inspections by developing corrective actions and implementing preventive measures
- Focuses on continuously improving and strengthening food safety by collaborating with internal teams and external resources
- Works cross functionally with other departments as necessary for special projects and initiative roll outs. This includes, but is not limited to: Procurement, logistics, finance, warehouse
- Works with Training & Development to identify, develop, and implement training for food safety, quality, & sanitation
- Conducts internal food safety training sessions for store associates
- Delivers Food Manager Certification training and testing for required management positions
- Manages QA department programs, including, but not limited to, product recalls and withdrawals, customer complaints, label review and vendor audits
- Develop and maintain an extensive Distribution Center audit program following established sanitation programs and the Distribution Center Food Safety Plan
- Assist in managing HACCP programs
- Assists with the development and implementation of food safety materials; conducts program review annually to verify compliance with regulatory and company standards
- Respond and support with an array of crisis and emergency situations/imminent health hazards (i.e. pest infestation, water/power interruption, floor or sewage back up, etc) which could result in injury, disruption of business, or potential regulatory enforcement action
- Conducts investigations for food related illness and injury claims
- Acts as backup for Recall program management
- Works closely with Logistics, Warehouse, and Inventory Managers to ensure the highest level of efficiency within the overall operation. Ensures trucks are unloaded/loaded properly on an accurate and timely basis by overseeing workload scheduling and delivery of product in the warehouse. May operate powered material handling equipment in some locations.
- Supervises associates to include, but not limited to: staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution. Ensures staff maintains a level of professionalism, competency and motivation through the direction of selection, development and ongoing evaluation. Promotes safety through the re-enforcement of current safety programs, additional programs, safety meetings, proper footwear and clothing, and discussions of workers' compensation costs.
Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma or Equivalent Experience
4-6 years warehouse and team lead or supervisory experience including in-depth knowledge of all warehouse
Preferred QualificationsBachelors: Business management, logistics or related area.
6-10 years warehouse experience including in-depth knowledge of all warehouse phases within foodservice industry.
Supervisory experience.
OSHA Forklift operator certificate.
