This position assumes leadership responsibilities assigned and assists with the day-to-day operations of the department; clinical support with staff for case presentations and treatment recommendations; daily review of HCS system for accurate data entry; assist/support with training of new staff. Rotating on call schedule with the Director of A&R and assisting in maintaining the department in the Director’s absence.

The Assistant Director of Assessment and Referral is accountable for assisting and directing the Assessment and Referral activities at the facility. As a clinician, this position provides direction to all staff of Assessment & Referral in the provision of psychiatric assessment services, including clinical evaluations, crisis intervention, and referrals. This position interfaces closely with the medical staff, fellow department heads and administration, treatment team/external case managers/managed care organizations, functions as a liaison with other hospital intake departments. Maintains the departments monthly staffing scheduling and assists in all auditing of evaluations and call logs.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications and Education

• Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Human Services field; or Licensed RN.

Experience
Prior intake, assessment, admission, and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.

• Three years of experience and knowledge in the area of mental health.

Certifications/Licensure

• CPR and Handle with Care certification.
• Must be a licensed master’s Level Clinician (LMSW, LCSW, LPC-I, LPC, LMFT).
• At least one-year previous experience on an acute behavioral health hospital preferred.

Other Skills

Prefer knowledge of crisis intervention and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses symptomology, basic chemical dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management.
