Perplexity is seeking an experienced Research Engineer to shape the future of large-scale language models (LLMs) that power our products. If you're keen on pushing AI boundaries and making a significant impact, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects that implement state of the art tradeoffs between model accuracy, cost, and latency to deliver a superb search experience.
• Create a culture of high standards by diving deep into data and evaluations to continually push model performance.
• Anticipate future LLM needs and create automatic systems to continually improve performance of deployed systems.
• Advocate for and deliver novel machine learning uses in search.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with large-scale LLMs and Deep Learning systems.
• Strong programming skills; versatility is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams on challenging 0-1 projects.
• Strong communicator that can collaborate with whole company.
• Minimum of 5 years of working on relevant deep learning projects.

Nice-to-have

• PhD in Machine Learning or related areas.
• Experience building distributed systems.

Our cash compensation range for this role is $200,000 - $260,000.
