ELL Teacher
Position Purpose
Create authentic learning experiences for bilingual students utilizing appropriate methods and strategies. Implement effective curriculum, instruction, assessment, and evaluation in all content areas to support and develop student's content area knowledge and cognitive academic language in L1 and L2.
Essential Job Functions

• Deliver appropriate instruction that follows developed and approved courses of study
• Develop effective instructional methodologies and assessments that focus on State standards
• Maintain appropriate and accurate student records and lesson plans
• Establish and maintain appropriate communications with colleagues, students and parents
• Willingness to commit to an extra-curricular activity as assigned.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Pay Rates
PEA certified position
Work Schedule
Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teacher's Contract.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state licensure requirements, knowledge of contemporary principles and practices of teaching, knowledge of classroom and behavior management techniques which includes the following.
• Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs.
• Ability to cooperate with the school faculty and administration in the development and implementation of an articulated program of instruction.
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and guardians, staff members, and community representatives in providing an appropriate educational program.
• Ability to understand the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional patterns of students.
• Skills in the application of contemporary principles and practices of teaching.
• Successful classroom management skills.
• Skills in exercising sound and professional judgment.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

License/ Registration/ Certification

• Current Indiana Teacher's License in English as a Second language.

Education

• BS/ BA degree in English as a New Language.

Experience

• Previous experience is preferred.
