Position Summary:As the leader of PetAg's sales team and a member of the PetAg Leadership Team, the Director of Sales is responsible for creating a culture of success and consistent business and goal achievement, enabling the accomplishment of the organization's objectives. This includes achieving the established budgeted financial results and on-going personnel development to provide a high performing Sales team
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Strategy: Develop plans and strategies to gain business and create intimate and lasting customer relationships as well as the programs and practices to ensure the timely execution of these plans to achieve the company's sales goals. Partner with internal team in developing successful product, channel partner and end-user plans in support of the company's strategy and objectives
  • Sales and Marketing: Understand each market/channel in which the Company's products are sold and distributed. Actively drive key account management and engage in key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities
  • Sales Forecasting: Ability to guide team in best practice development for monthly sales forecasting to provide the organization with clear guidance and alignment with Operations for production planning via monthly S&OP meetings.
  • Budget Management: Strong financial/analytical acumen to lead development of (1) overall brand revenue budgets by month by SKU for the year, (2) customer level budgets for discounts, incentives, coop funds, etc., (3) Sales departmental operating expense and staffing budget.
  • Personnel Development: Coach & direct implementation of sales plans, policies, and practices. Define and coordinate sales training and performance programs that enable staff to achieve desired sales outcomes and maximize their potential.
  • Team structure: Define and implement an optimal sales force structure and develop plans for role advancement and employee development over time.
  • Contract Development: Ability to collaborate with legal team to define contract terms for new retail partners, develop, and execute the final agreement between the retailer and Pet Ag for both domestic and foreign distributor/retailer relationships.
  • Event/Show Leadership: Plan and participate in industry events, trade shows, retailer open houses, and associations which support the Company's business.
  • Support the employee-ownership culture and live by the Company's values in carrying-out the day-to-day operations
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree. Studies in the fields of animal science, animal health, marketing, or business are preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively increasing responsibility in sales management roles
  • CPG industry leadership experience
  • Successful track record of profit and loss accountability
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Accomplished people leader with experience in identifying and developing talent through coaching and feedback.
  • Travel required up to 50%.
