Become an integral part of our family-owned, rapidly growing construction company! With nearly 100 years in business, Peter Schwabe, Inc. (PSI) seeks a Business Development Professional to grow the firm into the next century. This critical position on the Peter Schwabe, Inc. team has great growth potential and is valued and recognized as essential to the continued growth of the company. The primary focus of this position is to identify leads, generate opportunities, and build long-term relationships with current and prospective clients in our key sectors: retail/restaurants, automotive dealerships, and convenience stores. Compensation will be closely tied to sales success.

The Business Development Professional will work with the Director of Business Development, who will make introductions to our clientele, prospects, and processes. He/she will work with our team of Project Managers, Estimators, and support staff to ensure business development opportunities are identified, cultivated, and pursued in a timely and organized manner.

The Business Development Professional will be deeply embedded in the PSI team culture and will be a frontline representative of the firm. The selected candidate will possess PSI’s core values:

The following is a list of primary duties and areas of responsibility:

  • Lead Identification– using personal network, online bidding tools, public notices & meetings, trade & business publications, etc.
  • Lead Development and Follow-up – including prospect research, proposal development and presentation
  • Lead Tracking and Management – including contact management and preparation of weekly pipeline report
  • Business Development Events – including professional associations, networking events, trade shows, golf outings, etc.
  • Other activities as needed from time to time

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a passion for sales, service, and working collaboratively to build a book of business
  • Be self-motivated and driven to succeed
  • Possess superior client service and listening skills
  • Be able to confidently communicate with all levels of the decision-making process, including C-suite executives
  • Have proven experience in sales, ideally in construction or one of our target sectors
  • Learn quickly in a fast-paced, exciting environment
  • Be able to provide examples of how he/she possesses PSI’s core values.
