Job Description Peterson CAT has the immediate need for an experienced Tractor Trailer Driver at our Ridgefield, WA location. SUMMARY The Tractor Trailer Driver is responsible for deliveries and retrieval of rental equipment at customer sites with various delivery vehicles up to 98,000 lbs. G.V.W.R. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign the functions to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons. Job functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Maintain a safe working environment and observe all company and Department of Transportation (DOT) safety procedures, laws, policies and rules, including maintaining an accurate Record of Duty Status log. Monitor, maintain and inspect assigned delivery vehicles in accordance with manufacturer, company, and DOT guidelines, including daily DOT vehicle operational safety inspections. It is also the driver’s responsibility to ensure that all required registrations, permits and inspections are current and valid. Load and transport rental equipment in a safe and secure manner following DOT guidelines for secure and tie-down of equipment. Interact with internal and external customers in a positive and professional manner including listening, gaining understanding, and accurately relaying customer concerns, and complaints to the appropriate person. Deliver and retrieve equipment to and from customer sites. Inspect equipment for damage when picking up equipment from customers. Fuel rental equipment as required. Wash and maintain rental equipment as directed. Complete all rental and related documents in an accurate and timely manner. Work on an "on call" 24/7 basis as required for emergency equipment deliveries. Follow all company safety rules and use of applicable personal protective equipment (PPE). Promote positive company image by professional conduct, personal appearance, and truck appearance. Operate company or personal vehicle as needed. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Work overtime as needed within labor law and DOT guidelines. Must wear company provided uniform when performing the above-mentioned job functions. Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation. Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers/ coworkers, including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure. Respectfully takes direction from supervisor/manager. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, safely and in alignment with Peterson’s core values. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and completion of certified truck driver training program; and a minimum of three years of related experience, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. CERTIFICATES, LICENCENSES, REGISTRATIONS Class "A" Commercial Driver’s License with required endorsements and a current Medical Certificate. Must possess a clean DMV driving record. The pay range for this position is $28.00 to 32.00 depending on expereince. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary.
