Department Overview
Utility Partnerships & Innovation (UPI) is responsible for the creation of transformative, scalable solutions to interlocking utility challenges through the development of third-party partnerships and the deployment of new technology that directly accelerates PG&E’s long-term strategy. The Load Management Solutions (LMS) team within UPI leads the creation and execution of the strategic vision for optimizing the load management product portfolio (Energy Efficiency, Demand Response/Flexibility, Resiliency), with a core objective to optimize and balance the energy system while meeting the needs of our hometowns and managing all customer centered outcomes throughout the program lifecycle.
The PG&E Energy Efficiency (EE) portfolio is an integral piece of energy sustainability and creating a better energy future for our customers, which is why PG&E has worked for more than four decades to support customer efforts to reduce energy usage. Our wide range of EE programs can help keep customer energy bills affordable, reduce energy demand on the grid, build customer resiliency to climate change, and advance building decarbonization in California. As one of the nation’s largest EE programs, PG&E is helping to transform markets, set standards and be the marker by which all other utilities are measured.
Position Summary
The Manager, Residential Energy Efficiency Programs, is responsible for leading a team of program managers in executing and overseeing the implementation of the residential customer portfolio strategy and delivery plans, including oversight of the budget, energy savings goals (TSB), cost effectiveness, program key performance indicators, oversight of contracts with 3rd party implementers , ensuring compliance with data privacy mandates and regulatory compliance for residential energy efficiency programs. The role leads the cross-functional collaboration to understand and address customer needs, industry direction, business impacts and company vision; improving program operations, and helps PG&E produce a cost-effective energy efficiency portfolio . The residential portfolio includes resource acquisition, equity, and market support programs delivered by third party implementers. The portfolio includes energy efficiency programs that reach over 3 million households annually, and in addition, is currently developing several new electrification and load management focused pilots/programs. In addition, the position will have oversight over Community Choice Aggregators (CCA) and Regional Energy Networks (REN) coordination and collaboration as well as Evaluation, Measurement, and Verification (EM&V) responsibilities.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory in California and will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $144,000
Bay Area Maximum: $244,000
And/Or
California Minimum: $137,000
California Maximum: $232,000
Job Responsibilities:
Lead a team of 8 direct report program managers, responsible for development and implementation of PG&E’s residential customer energy efficiency and electrification strategy and programs
Ensure real-time view of customer needs, industry direction, business impacts, risks and opportunities to influence current and future regulatory and industry strategic direction and priorities
Represent PG&E and coordinates closely with external utility leadership to develop and execute California statewide program and policy objectives and ensure coordination of statewide programs.
Develop, monitor, analyze, and manage operating budgets and balancing accounts for department. Determine performance metrics to monitor and report on business performance results. Regularly present updates to senior leadership on status of organization’s initiatives and goals.
Monitor energy savings achievements. Work with internal channels and partners including marketing to develop and implement plans to achieve savings and cost effectiveness targets.
Interpret PUC compliance mandates working with the Regulatory Reporting team and Law department to determine what compliance looks like and to resolve issues and disputes.
Respond to and resolve external and internal residential customer escalations and issues.
Work with Energy Efficiency Policy Manager on CPUC outreach intended to strengthen relations with the Energy division by identifying key issues, potential risks on the industry horizon, and hot to mitigate and resolve.
Establish clear expectations and goals to achieve results and build team development and engagement through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and coaching, change management, employee engagement, team building and rewards and recognition.
Job Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelor’s in business, engineering or equivalent work experience
8 years of work experience

General knowledge of end use technologies, energy efficiency, electrification, demand response, load management for residential customers
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience and proficiency in project and contract management: manage multiple priorities, projects, contracts to completion such as energy efficiency projects
