Overview

Cypress Lakes offers an 18-hole, par 71, layout that is challenging and fun for all skill levels. With five sets of tees available a good time can be had by all.

The tees, fairways, and rough are comprised of wonderfully manicured bermuda grass, while the putting surfaces feature the highly acclaimed mini verde ultra dwarf bermuda grass.

Our goal is to offer you the best possible playing surfaces year round so that you feel you are given the best chance to play your best.

With numerous dog legs and water hazards throughout the course, your tee shots are of utmost importance during your round.

Essential Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the General Manager, the employee is responsible for overseeing and providing direction for all aspects of the golf operation including daily cash handling, pro shop retail operation, golf cart fleet management, guest service personnel, and coordinating outings and events.

The employee performs administrative and supervisory duties to ensure safe and efficient operations. The employee also performs public relations duties to effectively market the golf course and engage the public.

The employee performs coordination of lesson structure within approved guidelines and promotes good public and employee relations.

This job is considered safety- and security- sensitive and is subjective to a pre-employment background check and random drug screens .

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : The following list was developed through a job analysis; however, it is not exhaustive and other duties may be required and assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION : Supervision . Provides guidance and assistance to employees to ensure optimal levels of job performance .

  • Establishes weekly work schedules and duties for golf operational employees.
  • Reviews work of subordinates and takes appropriate disciplinary actions if needed.
  • Recruits, trains, and hires part-time staff as needed for events.
  • Recruits, trains, and coordinates volunteers as needed for golf operations.
  • Organizes and conducts staff meetings of golf operations as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION : Administration and Planning . Provides guidance and direction for the overall operation and functions of Cypress Lakes .

  • Oversees daily activities of golf operations.
  • Maintains Golf Shop Inventory within approved buildings and make purchases as necessary.
  • Establishes and implements short-and long-range golf operations objectives.
  • Assists General Manager with proposed budget recommendations.
  • Plans and coordinates annual event guide and calendar such as tournaments, demo days, group clinics, junior golf activities etc.
  • Establishes and maintains golf lessons, clinics, and growing the game initiatives with oversight from the General Manager.
  • Makes recommendations to Mayor concerning fees and expenditures related to the golf operations order to maintain financially feasible programs.

Reviews and maintains safety and health standards at all facilities and all events.

  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises room rentals, golf course, and other special activities.
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises all member tournaments. Organizes and coordinates members' events

NON - ESSENTIAL FUNCTION :

  • Produce daily deposits, when needed.
  • Delivers deposits to city hall.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Can be acquired on the job)

  • Knowledge of City and Departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of City geography, and road systems.
  • Knowledge of public relations, budgeting, and planning process.
  • Knowledge of PGA rules and guidelines.

Knowledge of golf course operations.

Knowledge of safety and health standards regarding the operation of golf course.

Knowledge of the budgeting and planning process.

Knowledge of accounting and financial management principles.

Knowledge of safety rules including accident causation and prevention.

Knowledge of sales and marketing.

Knowledge of building and facilities management.

Communication skills to effectively communicate internally and externally, both orally and in writing.

Writing skills to develop professional letters, reports, and other materials using correct English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Listening skills to take accurate statements.

Reading skills to understand and interpret procedures and instructions. Math skills to perform basic calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide).

Ability to maintain positive and productive relationships between the golf facility, and golfers, guests, employees, community, and city leaders.

Ability to coordinate and administer the golf facilities' policies as defined by the Mayor.

Ability to develop operating policies and procedures to employees.

Ability to develop long term goals to employees.

Ability to implement and monitor the budget and monitor the quality of golf facility products and services and ensure maximum value of services to customers and / or members.

Ability to secure and protect the golf facility assets.

Ability to work independently without close supervision.

Ability to perform basic supervisory functions.

Ability to operate standard office equipment.

Ability to use computers and office productivity software.

Ability to handle and account for monies.

Ability to deal with all contacts in a courteous and patient manner.

Ability to handle upset or irate individuals

Ability to organize files and work projects. Ability to drive.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to handle dynamic situations in a calm and courteous manner.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality dealing with personnel records.
  • Ability to prioritize work projects and multi-task.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Possess a Professional Golf Association Class "A" membership or is enrolled in the PGA Associates program in good standing working towards his / her Class A Certification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional work experience in assisting with the operation of a golf course, actively involved in golf operations including staffing, payroll, golf cart fleet management;

experience in administering golf lessons; experience in administering golf tournaments; or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the above listed knowledge, skills, and abilities commensurate with the requirements of this job will be considered.

Must have experience in administering golf tournaments. Possess a current and valid driver's license; must be insurable

Ability to work non-standard hours, holiday, nights, and weekends. Ability to attend seminars, conference, and workshops.

Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and random drug screens .
