Phalen Leadership Academies is Hiring a Campus Operations and Business Manager Near Detroit, MI

 

The Opportunity: PLA's Campus Operations and Business Manager are excellent at overseeing non-instructional functions such as campus safety, maintenance, food services, etc. The SOM will lead the implementation and maintenance of clear operational systems and a supportive school environment that allows the school leadership team to focus on instruction and teachers to focus on families. 

Key Deliverables:

Operations Functions:

  • Leads and coordinates non-instructional initiatives at a campus to ensure excellent support and partnership.
  • Manages, trains, and evaluates non-instructional campus personnel.
  • Oversees and coordinates all non-academic school operations, including maintenance, grounds, security, custodial services, technology, school safety, school nutrition, transportation, and fixed assets for a group of schools, to remove obstacles to teaching and learning.
  • Researches and implements region and campus-based policies and procedures, making decisions collaboratively with the Regional Director of Campus Operations, School Leaders, and Regional Directors of Academics.

Business Management Functions:

  • Attends campus finance board meetings.
  • Covers the main office during lunch breaks.
  • Serves as a safety team member.
  • Places all orders and handles banking.
  • Assists with grant ordering and tracking, CA-60's, count day, and enrollment.
Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-8 years of experience working in a K-12 setting
  • Facilitates and building maintenance experience highly preferred 
  • At least 3 years managing a small team or multiple large projects
  • Strong willingness to serve in a strategic operations leadership role with PLA
  • High level of comfort with financial oversight and budgetary tracking
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple and competing priorities
The Campus :Jalen Rose Leadership Academy (JRLA) is an open enrollment, tuition-free public charter high school on the northwest side of Detroit. The Academy began its first academic year in September 2011 and currently serves over 400 ninth through twelfth-grade scholars and nearly 800 alumni from metro Detroit. JRLA provides a leadership-focused education that engages and inspires youth to achieve at the rigorous level necessary to graduate with a college degree. Scholars are provided with an authentic academic experience that builds both the skill and will necessary to be successful in high school and beyond. 

 Immersed in the culture of college, scholars will receive extensive college exposure via university tours and summer program experiences to assist in a seamless transition into college. 

JRLA is a 9-16 model where scholars are supported not only through high school graduation, but through college graduation via our College Success team that works to coordinate success for current scholars and alumni.
