Job PurposePHINIA is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Manufacturing Engineer at our Aftermarket Remanufacturing Plant in Troy, MI.
This person will primarily be responsible for working with engineering teams to develop remanufacturing programs for commercial vehicle Fuel Systems and providing support to the responsible product lines.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work with Engineering Teams to develop remanufacturing programs for commercial vehicles (Fuel Systems, Smart Remote Actuators, Diesel Injectors and High-Pressure Pumps).
  • Apply reverse engineering to develop new processes and rework strategies.
  • Develop Assembly & Test strategies for remanufactured products.
  • Development of new CAPEX equipment projects with external suppliers from the design phase to product launch and high-volume production.
  • Design of industry leading manufacturing processes to fulfil evolving customer requirements.
  • Development of manufacturing processes including the creation of process documentation, product and process risk assessments, maintenance procedures and training documentation.
  • Continuous improvement of the hardware and software used for manufacturing processes, balancing commercial requirements with customer needs.
  • Assures product and process quality and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Responsible for developing test methodologies for competitor components / products.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering.
  • 1 years of experience in Automotive Manufacturing area preferred.
  • Experience with Data Acquisition Systems and LabVIEW and SolidWorks.
  • Experience in design and/or manufacturing of Electronics or Electro-mechanical devices.
  • Experience in development of Process flow design, PFMEA, control plans.
  • Ability to manage and direct several projects simultaneously of varying degrees of complexity.
  • Experience in improving product quality, labor efficiency, and throughput using Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Experience with DOE, Shainin RedX, 8D methodologies, GD&T and problem-solving tools to determine root cause and corrective action implementation for internal/external issues.
  • Familiar with Industry 4.0. Working knowledge of mechanical devices, such as indexers, pick & place mechanisms, robots, pneumatics, hydraulics, and machining processes, Working knowledge of sensors, PLCs, stepper and servo motors, vision systems, and Final Testers as EOL for electronics, Flow and Leak testers.
  • Knowledge in the use of laboratory equipment such as Oscilloscope, Multimeter and Function Generators.
  • Experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes and machinery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Minitab for Statistical Analysis.
