We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Test Engineer I.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The JLCCTC TE1 (Test Engineer 1) reports up through the JLCCTC Engineering Management team and provides task-unique expertise needed to interpret system/customer requirements, ensure responsiveness, and achieve successful performance. Additionally, this position will be assigned other projects or tasks in alignment with the level and scope of the position.This position provides support to the assigned sub team (Tech Ops, Functional, Embedded, Automated, and Mission Command) within Integration and Test team.The responsibilities will include but not limited to install, operate and troubleshoot JLCCTC system (Tech Ops), perform functional test (Functional), develop test plans (Embedded), perform Mission Command installation, troubleshoot, and test (Mission Command), or develop automated testing modules (Automated Team).All I&T members will use ticketing system (JIRA) to document the new and existing issues.Other duties include documenting test steps into required systems, providing on-site and phone support to integration events and exercises.
  • Provide technical expertise necessary to interpret requirements, ensure responsiveness and achieve successful performance.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot proprietary software system within Linux OS, VMWare, and/or Windows OS (Server & Client) environment.
  • Assist engineering staff with the analysis, evaluation and implementation of systems and other engineering tasks.
  • Develop and review test procedures for the newly developed functional capabilities.
  • Perform functional and regression testing on the target baseline and create tickets on the findings.
  • Provide Tier 2 helpdesk support (remote and onsite).
  • Provide onsite support to technical and functional staff during Training Exercises and Integration Events
  • Evaluate client interface ensuring efforts and guidelines are meeting customer requirements.
  • Assess Program requirements, functional designs, plans and schedules, and provide recommendations.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of documentation.
ABOUT YOU:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, IT or a related technical discipline. OR
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in related field (DoD Contract/US Military Service)
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Proficiency with Linux OS, Windows OS Administration.
  • Ability to obtain CompTIA Security Plus, Linux Plus and Computing Environment Certifications for Windows.
  • Highly proficient interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in WARSIM/JLCCTC system, Army Training Constructive Systems, and HLA Federation environment.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Experience in VMWare.
  • Experience in Network Administration.
  • Experience in Cross Domain Solution.
  • Holds or able to obtain a minimum DoD Secret security clearance, Top Secret preferred.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Domestic and International travel to Military Installations in support of JLCCTC Program activities is required.
Optional Desired Certificates:
  • Holds CompTIA Security .
  • Holds CompTIA Linux .
  • VMware Certifications.
  • Master's degree in computer science, Engineering, IT or a related technical discipline.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES AND OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS:
  • Knowledge of operating systems and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to the job role.
