Phoenix Police Department is Hiring a Civil Engineer III - Street Transportation Department Near Phoenix, AZ

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Street Transportation Department is seeking a motivated individual for a Civil Engineer III position within the Office of the City Engineer. The Civil Engineer III assigned to the Development Coordination group will advise and coordinate with engineers and developers on civil design plan questions for private development projects consisting of residential, multi-family, and industrial uses.
Duties includes:
  • Roadway design review and advisement.
  • Private development technical appeal hearings.
  • Cost estimating for bridge, culvert, and roadway planning purposes.
  • Technical specification review and creation for city standards.
  • Approvals for alternative design allowance, cost estimating for bridge, culvert, and roadway planning purposes.
  • Review of scope and fee proposals for various city-sponsored projects, stormwater, and drainage advisement, etc.
  • Small-to-medium special projects assigned to the division, i.e., roadway Impact fee analysis and establishment, long-range transportation studies, and infrastructure assessments in high-growth areas of the city.
SALARY
Pay Range: $93,121.60 to $131,40.00 annually.
Hiring Range: $93,121.60 to $118,040.00 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four years of experience in the practice of civil engineering or architecture.
  • One year of experience supervising professional and technical staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related engineering degree.
  • Must be registered in the State of Arizona as a Professional Engineer with proficiency in civil engineering within the first 12 months.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
  • Two years of cost estimating experience.
  • Experience in commercial and residential development master planning.
  • Three years of civil engineering transportation and street drainage design or plan review experience.
