Physician Support Systems is Hiring a Director of Finance And Operations Near Ontario, CA

Position Summary:

The Director of Finance is a senior financial professional responsible for overseeing and supervising the accounting department’s daily operations, including a team of accountants, staff accountants, and accounts payable. This role is integral to ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of financial processes, and it involves providing leadership and guidance to the accounting team.

The Director of Finance is responsible for managing the activities of the overall general accounting functions. Will oversee, implement, and maintain accounting systems, procedures and policies. This position ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data and acts as liaison between the company, government, client, and CPA auditors in providing the required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained.

Job Responsibilities (include the following, but not limited to):

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of accountants and staff accountants, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Financial Reporting: Preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct and review financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction or revenue enhancement.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), relevant accounting standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Development and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts, guiding the team in this process.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial data accuracy, while ensuring the team's adherence to these controls.
  • Month-End and Year-End Close: Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliation of accounts and preparation of financial reports, with the team's support.
  • Financial Audits: Coordinate and support external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations, and managing audit preparations.
  • Financial Software: Utilize accounting software and financial systems to manage and maintain financial records efficiently, training the team in system use.
  • Taxation: Collaborate with tax professionals to ensure compliance with tax laws and the timely preparation and filing of tax returns, guiding the team in tax-related tasks.
  • Financial Strategy: Provide financial insights and support for strategic decision-making and business planning, guiding the team in these efforts.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with financial service providers and vendors, such as banks and insurance companies, and oversee related tasks.
  • Ad Hoc Reporting: Generate ad hoc financial reports and analysis as required by senior management, delegating tasks to the team as needed.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field preferred
  • CPA or MBA a plus
  • 5-10 years progressive accounting experience in public accounting or similar environment
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP including application of general accounting theory
  • Strong leadership and proven supervisory skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Demonstrated mentoring, coaching, and organizational administrative skills required
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work and interact with department and client organizations
  • Strong computer aptitude, including expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as applicable accounting software
  • Knowledge of relevant tax regulations and laws.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects, deadlines, and staff
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills

Compensation:

  • This is a salary position with the pay range of $122,000 - $129,000 per year which depends on several variables that are unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, relevant education, training, licenses/certifications, etc.
