Job Description:

Perform specialized firefighting work in driving, operating and maintaining firefighting equipment, fighting fires, and crash/rescue operations.

Principal Responsibilities:

• The operation of fire apparatus and other equipment at emergency scenes and the maintenance of departmental equipment, buildings and grounds.
• Uses firefighting equipment available to confine and extinguish fires.
• At the appropriate time and place within an aircraft/structure, performs the task of ventilation.
• Recognizes and reports changing fire ground conditions to superior officers.
• Assumes Driver responsibilities as required by Officer in charge.
• Operates assigned equipment in compliance with established standards and guidelines.
• Drives fire apparatus in a safe and responsible manner to the scene of emergencies.
• Performs fire ground command responsibilities when working the position of acting officer.
• Performs emergency first aid for the victims of fire, accidents, illness or other emergencies.
• Assist with the crash/fire scene investigation and maintains the integrity of the crash/fire scene.
• Performs salvage and overhaul duties to prevent increased property loss.
• Participates in a comprehensive station training program.
• Complies with PTI Fire Department Policies.
• Trains daily on physical training.
• Keeps abreast of new techniques, equipment use and pertinent information by reviewing fire service publications, manuals and journals.
• Organizes and actively participates in all department public education, community service programs instructing diversified audiences ranging from airline employees, tenants and PTAA employees.
• Participates in the preparation and conduction of Pre-fire plans, Building, Parking Deck, Fuel Farms, Safety Area, Runway Light and Wildlife Inspections, stays abreast of updates to enhance knowledge of inspections conducted by PTAA FD employees within their response area.
• May be required to serve as Acting Officer in absence of assigned personnel.
• Attend ARFF recertification yearly, maintain all required training as set forth Federal Aviation Regulations Part 139, NAS 3306 revision 2 and NFPA and PTAA FD training as required. Attends special schools and seminars.

Standard Work Hours: This position is a Part-Time position. Hours will be based on departmental needs and employee availability.
