Job Description
A Lead, Patient Financial Services for Four Winds Health is responsible for supporting team members and all aspects of the Revenue Cycle Department with a primary focus on patient calls, patient billing and collections for our urgent care centers. Responsibilities of a team leader include decision-making, coaching, mentoring, developing the team's skills and managing conflict.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Managing day-to-day activities of the team and workflows
•Motivating the team to achieve organizational goals
•Developing and implementing a timeline to achieve KPI's
•Delegating tasks to team members
•Identifying trends in the call volumes, work quality (audits of team members), and technology needs
•Assisting in special projects
•Training of new team members
•Coaching and delivering constructive feedback to increase performance
•Patient billing, collections and patient phone calls for our urgent care centers using WellStreet's internal software
•Understanding of insurance contractual agreements & communicating to patients their responsibility
•Working with the Revenue Cycle Management to identify & resolve issues related to billing, coding, billing system, and process flow as it relates to patient billing & collections
•Interfacing with clinic staff on patient billing issues
•Interfacing with patients on billing questions via our customer service helpline
•Support all other functions of the Revenue Cycle Team
Minimum Qualifications
•2 years of experience in patient billing, patient calls, and collections
•2 years of experience in understanding the policies of insurance companies and how they impact the patient
•Motivated, dependable, and flexible with the ability to handle periods of stress and pressure
•High School diploma or equivalent

Recommended Skills for Success
•Experience in handling high volume patient phone calls with patience and continuity
•Ability to be patient, understanding, and empathetic while maintaining the collections approach
•Ability to make recommendations regarding outside collection per patient and instruct clinic staff of patient collection status and continued care
•Knowledge of insurance payers, insurance verification, the AR/revenue billing lifecycle and appealing denied claims
•Excellent computer skills - expertise in MS Word Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in using one or more Practice Management Systems/Billing Software
•Energy, enthusiasm, and the ability to work under pressure in a high volume, fast paced, unstructured start-up environment
•Ability to work within a team environment and maintain a positive attitude
•Excellent documentation, verbal, and written communication skills as it relates to patient responsibility and collecting patient balances
•Ability to communicate directly with patient while handling conflict in a professional manner
