Pierce Transit is looking for an individual experienced in project coordination and senior-level graphic design work to fill our open Marketing Coordinator role to oversee and assign incoming projects, develop strategies and detailed production schedules for campaigns, and design and develop new marketing materials. In this role, you will create detailed work plans, agency visuals, including branding, graphics, communications, interaction, research/strategy, or design for print media and digital delivery. This role develops creative campaigns for various divisions within Pierce Transit and creates and executes campaigns for internal and external communication to combine content, graphics, and video.
This job is based at our Lakewood, WA office and will have occasional weekend and evening commitments.

Employees are not covered under the Social Security System except for a 1.45% payment for Medicare.
Pierce Transit provides an ORCA Card benefit for each employee and a family member. This benefit provides free access to service on Pierce Transit, Sound Transit, Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro, Kitsap Transit, Seattle Monorail, Seattle Streetcar, King County Water Taxi and Kitsap Foot Ferry.
Paid LeaveFull-time Pierce Transit employees receive 11 paid holidays, 2 personal paid holidays, 6 days of major sick leave, 22 days of paid time off (PTO) per year, and the ability to earn up to 2 Wellness Days by participating in a qualifying wellness activity and the annual survey. PTO accrual rates increase per policy.

Primary FunctionsFacilitates marketing requests and overall workflow within the Marketing department design team.Monitors and reviews requested projects.Communicates with internal clients to gather details, clarify needs, and determine how to best achieve requestor's goals.Initiates, writes up, and assigns marketing requests for yearly campaigns and special projects.Enters project information into marketing request project management software.Monitors progress and deadlines.Develops a production schedule for all campaign elements.Develops media plans and buys ad space.Participates on cross-agency project teams or committees as assigned.Develops, tracks, and delivers key performance indicators for the department.Generates reports to track workflow, efficiency, and quality of service provided to internal clients.Documents progress and completion of projects in database.Responsible for major promotional and educational campaigns, including collateral materials, such as print/digital/social/outdoor/transit exterior and interior advertising, bus shelter advertisements, direct mail, onboard messaging, signage, vehicle graphics, and special campaign branding and style sheets.Performs procurement and accounting tasks.Performs senior-level graphic design work for selected high-visibility promotions, such as annual reports, reports to the community newsletters, direct mail campaigns, fleet graphics, paint schemes and installation guides.Coordinates distribution and installation of marketing materials for internal and external customers.Demonstrates reliable and consistent attendance.Performs related work as required.
Secondary FunctionsProvides leadership ensuring unified, professional final products including proofreading, review for design, accuracy, content, technical writing, and brand continuity across the agency.Determines strategy and creative themes.Suggests ideas for content, photos, copy, and design as needed.Monitors adherence to agency branding standards.Serves as backup to webmaster.Designs and develops content, including video, for Pierce Transit's website to support marketing activities.Maintains and updates existing content as needed.
QualificationsRequired:
Bachelor's Degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, or a related field;

Insurance Plans:Pierce Transit employees and their dependents (including domestic partners) may elect a medical (includes vision) and dental plan. Medical and dental benefits begin the first day of the month following date of hire. Employees may also participate in a flexible spending account for eligible health care and dependent care expenses.
Basic life insurance as well as AD&D insurance coverage is provided by the employer at no cost to the employee. Employees may elect to purchase additional coverage. Additionally, long-term disability insurance is provided by the employer at no cost to the employee in the event an employee cannot work due to a covered illness or injury (some limitations apply).
Retirement Plan:All employees of Pierce Transit are required to participate in the Washington State Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Employees are not covered under the Social Security System except for a 1.45% payment for Medicare.
For those eligible employees who were previous members of the Tacoma Employees' Retirement System (TERS), continuation of participation in that system may be permitted. Those employees will be required to contribute to the Social Security System and Medicare.
Deferred Compensation Plan:Employees are eligible to participate in a 457 savings plan with an employer match of up to 4.25% of annual compensation with increases as years of service are met.
Hours of Work:Most Pierce Transit employees have a 40-hour workweek; however, positions may require shift work, overtime, and weekend work. Alternative work schedules and teleworking are available subject to department approval.
Probationary Period:All regular employees are subject to successful completion of a probationary period of six months, unless the position is listed as "at-will."
Employee Wellness Program:Pierce Transit offers a robust Employee Wellness Program to assist employees in developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Incentives may be available for successful completion of Wellness activities. Additionally, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available at no cost to the employee.
