The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing various accounting functions and ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial records. This role will be based at company headquarters in Kennewick, WA. This position will report to the Controller and supervise 2 people (Staff Accountant and Accounting Clerk) No prior supervisory experience required.The ideal candidate will have substantial exposure to monthly closing processes, forecasting and budgeting, and customer billing. They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset.
Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing various accounting functions and ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial records. This role will be based at company headquarters in Kennewick, WA. Responsibilities
- Ensure business transactions are reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Work closely with team members to assist with the month-end close
- Assist with the annual audit process including the draft of the financial statements and related notes
- Handle monthly B & O tax entries and related documentation.
- Research and analyze expense variances for company management
- Stay updated on accounting industry trends through literature and seminars.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred.
- 2-4 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience preferred.
- Experience with general accounting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Strong business math skills; read and interpret data and reports
- Critical success criteria include accuracy and attention to detail, organized approach to work, effective time management and follow-through; Commitment to confidentiality is a must
- Computer skills: MS Office and Google applications, Sightline, query tools, and database systems and applications
- Complete work both independently and as an effective member of the team, adapting to changing requirements, deadlines, and priorities as needed
- Communicate clearly and professionally through listening, speaking, and writing skills; remain professional and solutions-focused while interacting with others, including customers
