Position Title: Math Instructor - TRiO Upward Bound (Temporary, Part-Time, up to 19.5 hours per week)Department: Downtown Campus - TRiO Upward BoundRate of Pay: $25.49/hourClosed Date: September 6, 2024; 5:00PM Arizona Time Position Summary:The primary purpose of the Upward Bound (UB) Program (federally funded) at the Pima Community College is to prepare low-income first-generation students in grades 9-12 to attend and graduate from college. The UB Program aids in the areas of academic support and enrichment, in Math, English, Science, Second Language, & ACT/SAT preparatory. We provide career/college exploration and post-secondary information.The students attend academic classes specifically designed for them during the academic year, and during our summer component as well. We are seeking to staff the following classes:
Math (All levels)
UB is currently accepting applications for temporary instructors for our Saturday Enrichment classes starting on Saturday, September 14th, and ending on November 2nd.Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for teaching a diverse population of high school students in various non-credit enrichment classes
Prepare instructional materials, lesson plans, and classroom presentations
Develop, review, and revise curriculum
Assess, evaluate, and document students’ skills and progress
Maintain accurate records and documentation
Classroom management skills
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and
Two years of teaching experience
Or
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience in teaching math

Physical Requirements:Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, repetitive motions, and fine finger movements – using the fingers to manipulate/handle objects such as typing, sorting papers, activating buttons, or sorting/separating small parts.Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long periods or moving from one work site to another.
