Read more about the position and see if it is a good match for you: JOB SUMMARYCoordinate and participate in a variety of activities and functions related to safety programs, create a universal practice of hazard awareness in order to reduce injuries, save lives, time, and money, maintain County's compliance with safety regulations, and provide training related to safety and hazards in the workplace under general supervision.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Work in this classification requires an individual to be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Audit safety training, job safety analysis, and compliance activities to assure a safe working environment for all County employees and safe public facilities for citizens.Assist the department in the development and implementation of safety and loss prevention programs, policies, and procedures and pConduct safety inspections and evaluation of department facilities and make recommendations for correction of any deficiencies and tour job sites inspecting equipment, tools, and working conditions to determine whether government and County safety regulations are being followed.Process and maintain records of property, casualty, and industrial injury claims and accident reports.Compile statistical data and prepare reports regarding the frequency, severity, and causes of property, casualty, and injury claims and accidents.Assist management in the identification and prioritization of mandatory or specialized training needs and recommendations.Provide training to employee's and management teams.Process and maintain records of training conducted, employee attendance and related activities/statistics, and provide reports to supervisors, managers, and directors.Assist in the development and coordination of emergency evacuation plans.To promote and adhere to the workplace values of accountability, commitment, and teamwork to help enrich lives beyond expectation.Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.Perform other related duties as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the principle of employee safety training.Knowledge of principles and practices of OSHA regulations.Knowledge of principles of loss prevention and risk identification.Knowledge of the County's organization and functions of County government related to workplace safety.Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of training and instruction development.Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and statistical databases.Skill in interpreting rules, regulations, and policies and developing appropriate procedures.Skill in keeping logs, records, and summarizing, compiling, and tabulating narrative and numerical materials and writing technical reports.Skill in interpreting and analyzing data.Ability to exercise sound judgment in completing assignments.Ability to utilize personal computer software programs affecting assigned work and in compiling and preparing spreadsheets and reports.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, management, outside agencies, community groups, and the general public.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specifications.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
