Pine Bluff School District is Hiring a Commissioned Officer (3) Near Bluff, AR
The essential function of the Commissioned Officer works in assigned schools, maintaining effective resources between school officials, students, parents and law enforcement officials. They will also perform operations and public relation duties and tasks specific to the position. The most important and essential job function of the position is attitude which includes the following: interacting positively and cooperating with students, parents, co-workers, and supervisors, working as a team member, functioning under intense time pressure and responding in a positive manner to supervision. Qualifications
A valid Arkansas driver’s license and use of an automobile is required
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Three (3) to five (5) years security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred
All applicants must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment
Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a school environment and enforcement procedures
Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to working conditions
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with staff, parents, students, and the school system
Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance
Ability to write and investigate required reports
Ability to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures
Individual must have high integrity, possess strong leadership skills and be extremely reliable
Any officer in this category must meet all minimum standards for employment or appointment as outlined in Rule 1002; shall complete a twelve (12) month probationary period with the employing department; must satisfactorily complete or have completed a Division approved Basic Police Training Course equivalent to the course required for Auxiliary and Part-time Officers; the employing agency may require additional specialized training for job assignments

Specialized Police Personnel are identified in the Act, as modified
Specialized officers’ duties are limited or restricted to the facility or area in which they work, and may include the enforcement of agency rules and regulations for which the penalty could be a fine or imprisonment
The Division shall approve all training courses and certification provided for Specialized Police Personnel
Certificates may be issued to all specialized Police Personnel who have:
Met the minimum employment or appointment requirements outlined in Rule 1002;
Satisfactorily completed the minimum standards for training as approved by the Division; and
Completed a twelve (12) month probationary period as outlined in Rule 1003
Specialized Police persons who have previously met the training requirements but have been separated from law enforcement for a period of three (3) years, will be required to meet the minimum training requirements again
Any Specialized Police personnel who fails to satisfactorily complete the appropriate approved law enforcement training within the time period allowed by Rule 1002(1), will not be eligible for training nor certification for twenty-four (24) months following the date of expiration of the probationary period
Specialized Police personnel may assist local law enforcement during emergency situations but shall not enforce the traffic laws of the State of Arkansas
After completing all requirements a Commission certificate shall be issued upon application by the agency. Division shall approve all training courses and certification provided for Specialized Police Personnel.Responsibilities

Maintains law and order at District facilities, including prevention and control of incidents of violence directed against District facilities, personnel, or students
Cooperates with local law-enforcement agencies in the prevention, control, and investigation of antisocial or illegal activities by persons or groups directed against District facilities, personnel or students
Acts as a deterrent to crime by performing thorough post checks, maintaining access control and remaining visible
Performs foot patrol of the campus to monitor behavior, secure buildings and property
Maintains order during lunch hour and changing of classes
Work is performed inside and outside the building with exposure to inclement weather
Candidates must have physical ability to spend extended periods of time walking and standing
Must possess exemplary work ethic and maintains good relations with school personnel and the public
Thinks clearly and logically, uses good judgment, and makes quick and appropriate decisions in emergencies
Reads, interprets, applies, and explains rules, regulations, policies and procedures
Effectively mediates disputes and creates collaboration for problem solving
Administers first aid, including CPR methods, if necessary
Performs other duties assigned by supervisor
