Description

SUMMARY:

Repairs physical structures of buildings and maintains grounds by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Engages in painting, plumbing, minor electrical repairs and assists in structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings.

Follows safety regulations.

Maintains time and records of maintenance repairs.

Performs maintenance repairs assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Assists the Maintenance Supervisor with work orders and facility inspections.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Two years experience in general facility maintenance. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.
