Job Summary:

The Portfolio Manager is the lead contact between Pine State Beverage and the supplier and is responsible for managing the profitable growth of each supplier’s portfolios throughout the State of Maine. Duties includeannual planning, goal setting, pricing coordination, inventory management, incentive writing, and POS purchasing. The Portfolio Manager’s time is split between managing portfolios and driving field sales, working directly with sales managers and key accounts. The Portfolio Manager is also responsible for compliance with company standards and policies in all areas impacted by the assigned division.

  • Manage the profitable growth of their suppliers’ portfolios. This includes regular business planning meetings and fieldwork.
  • Provide educated recommendations to the Director of Sales Strategy regarding potential new items and appropriate pricing structures.
  • Review portfolio inventory regularly, offering suggestions on items to discontinue and potential destination accounts for remaining inventory on-hand.
  • Assist with the development of supplier relationships. 
  • Manage the sales/marketing operating budgets appropriately by supplier. Including management and processing of billbacks.
  • Work with Director of Sales Strategy and Marketing Managers in creation of incentives to achieve supplier sales and distribution goals.
  • Manage the ordering of branded POS, equipment and other supplies as needed.
  • Coordinate and actively participate in tastings, trade shows, and wait staff trainings.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and present brand training programs to Pine State Beverage employees, customers, and consumers on an as-needed basis.
  • Collaborate on sales forecasting activities and set performance goals accordingly. 
  • Source new opportunities by engaging new suppliers.
  • Execute against a targeted non-buy account list by customer & brand. Work with team to secure new business through closure of account & distribution voids .
  • Work with sales reps through set work with schedules to drive sales on priority brands within all categories of our portfolio.
  • Identify, target, and develop potential new accounts within territory.
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with owners and buying personnel at key accounts with monthly/quarterly calls with written recaps prepared after each meeting.
  • Interstate travel to attend tradeshows and supplier conventions.

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of beverage sales industry.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven decision-making and problem-solving skills along with presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Teams
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed, including late nights and weekends.
  • Valid state driver’s license and safe driving record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular and sustained periods of exertion requiring ability to lift carry and position product using proper body mechanics.
  • Significant periods of time spent sitting in vehicle, traveling to accounts within assigned territory.
  • Exposure to a variety of environmental conditions: weather, temperature, lighting, and noise as determined by driving conditions.
