SUMMARY:
The MRI Tech is responsible for patient safety and the performance of high quality Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) studies. Ensures effective communication with customers, including radiologists as necessary. In some instances, trains new technologists and/or patient coordinators.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Responsible for patient safety, including pre-screening for contra-indications, aseptic injection technique, etc.
- Produces high quality diagnostic images.
- Position patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with
- government regulations and to ensure the safety of patients and staff
- Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedure performance
- Start I.V.'s, administer contrast media as directed and per protocol
- Evaluate MR scans for technical quality
- Orders supplies, cleans unit, assist in preparing for transport on a daily basis.
- Effectively communicates with customers and/or radiologists.
- Trains new technologist and/or patient coordinators.
- Coordinate scheduling and patient flow
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience
- Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Active ARRT (R) or ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- 1-2 years MRI experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal abilities
- Excellent telephone skills and etiquette
- Maintains confidentiality
- Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in a clinic setting
- Use and apply medical terminology appropriately
- Service orientation
- Ability to relate sensitively to patients' needs
- Well-organized
