Job Description: Summary:
Client is looking for an Inside Plant and Design Support Engineer to join the Edge and Network Services team.
This team is responsible for deploying and supporting one of the world's largest and complex networks.
As a member of this team, you will have a unique opportunity to be involved in all aspects of networking at client.
Responsibilities will include the design, execution on capacity planning of all physical infrastructure globally which includes MV/LV space, power, cooling, cabling and other infrastructure planning and design within external/internal POP/CLS and ILA facilities.
Responsibilities:
Execute global space and power planning and design function in POP/CLS/ILAs.
Engage in system level facility sizing/consultation of Utilities, Switchgear, UPS/DC Power Plant, PDUs, mechanical cooling, and LV distribution.
Manage global space, power, cabling and other inside plant infrastructure requirements in support of edge network requirements, present and future.
Proactively engage with various Data Center operators in evaluating their facilities and recommend corrective actions to meet client standard design baseline requirements.
Provide a multi-year proactive plan (2 to 5 year) on space, power, cooling, cabling and other infrastructure requirements to meet the forecasted/trended demand
Present optimized layout of edge site floorplans, allocate space assigned to network function, optical, backbone, IP, compute, etc.
Deliver on time Engineering Design Packages related site infrastructure scope for sourcing/network investment teams.
Build capacity reporting to analyze long term trends and industry direction to forecast and budget for future growth. Monitor capacity thresholds and initiate proactive builds to expand inventory aligned with edge and backbone deployment forecasts.
Provide input and closely work with other partner/XFN teams on space/power requirements, deployment projects, and other major initiatives that may affect capacity.
Exhibit proactive communication and think with a product and customer mindset.
Manage key vendor relationships including contract negotiations, pricing, and evaluation of current and potential partnerships.
20% of travel required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a minimum BS/BE Electrical Engineering Degree.
MEP focused PE/CE Engineers are highly preferred.
Minimum 10 plus years of experience working in Data Center Planning and Design.
Expert hands-on experience in reading/analyzing Electrical/Mechanical single line diagrams.
Technical in-depth knowledge of various regional Data Center electrical and cooling configurations, IEC, NEMA standards, AC/DC power, power redundancy scenarios.
Knowledge of engineering principles of the infrastructure architecture (space line up, air flow, cooling etc.)
Knowledge of Data Center, Collocations and Remote Hut environments, to include engineering principles regarding power and other infrastructure
Experience with optical network design, installation and maintenance for service providers or enterprise networks
Experience with field-based work in POPs, carrier hotels, data centers and Central Office environments
Basic knowledge of optical theory, transport technologies and the operation of optical transport systems
Analytical, interpersonal, and communications experience
Hands-on experience with Power system equipment including DC Power Plant, UPS, PDUs and MV system.
Experience with communication and directing tasks with carriers remotely.
Demonstrated experience analyzing situations and utilizing troubleshooting experience, systems and tools, and problem solving.
Experience working with limited supervision.
Project management and organizational experience.
Experience working in a global team environment.
Working knowledge of Revit/AutoCAD/Bluebeam/BIM360 etc.
Skills:
Power planning/Design (AC/DC) is going to be the biggest requirement.
MEP Engineers. Potentially PEs/CEs.
Design/Planning/Installation/Operations.

Services side for build out of critical infra:
Services engineer in space and power

Top 3 must-have HARD skills:
Knowledge of Telecom Central Offices, Data Center, Collocations and Remote Hut environments, to include engineering principles regarding power and other infrastructure.
Outstanding proficiency with AutoCAD/AutoDesk tools.
Knowledge of engineering principles of the infrastructure architecture (space line up, air flow, cooling etc.).
Good to have skills:
Understanding of optical network design, installation and maintenance for service providers or enterprise networks.

Pay Range: $95 /hr
