Duties

Provide CNS, Mission Engineering with full time piping design engineering support for facility and production area activities in Cat 2 and Cat3 facilities. The responsibilities for the design engineer are:

Provide design output documentation to support minor facility modificaitons. The types of design output documents typically developed by a piping design engineer within the Mission Engineering organization are drawings, engineering instructions, data sheets, equipment specifications, equivalency evaluations, calculations, etc.

Familiarity with and experience in developing designs in accordance with ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.1.

Works with other engineering disciplines and other plant organizations to produce timely design output.

Experience in a NRC or DOE regulated environment is desirable. Requires an understanding of Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, Conduct of Maintenance for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment.

Requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with various clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees. Must be willing to perform field walk-downs and work in a production environment.

Education

Requires an ABET accredited BS degree in a relevant Engineering discipline plus 5 or more years of relevant professional experience or a MS degree in a relevant Engineering discipline plus 5 or more years of relevant professional experience. A Q clearance or ability to get one is required.

Level 2: BA/BS Degree plus 5-9 years of direct experience required, or a MA or MS with 5-9 years of experience.

Level 3: BA/BS Degree plus 10-14 years of direct experience required, or a MA or MS with 10-13 years of experience.

Level 4: BA/BS Degree plus 15-20 years of direct experience required, or a MA or MS with 14-18 years of experience.

Level 5: BA/BS Degree plus 20 years of direct experience required, or a MA or MS with 19 years of experience

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Light to moderate lifting may be required for packages and other items, ability to walk short distances, may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
