  • Salary Range: $115,000-$140,000
  • Hybrid Details: Our Accounting Manager will work in the office three days a week but have the flexibility to work from home two days a week after the initial training period.

With 5 years of experience managing accounting functions, you have a proven track record of overseeing payroll, month-end close, financial reporting, and more. Your construction industry background gives you an in-depth understanding of certified payroll, job costing, and the nuances of project accounting. Job Description

The Accounting Manager at PPSI is responsible for managing all accounting functions to ensure the accuracy of the Company’s financial statements. This includes overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial reporting, month-end close process, and general ledger management. The role also involves preparing account reconciliations and analyses, project accounting, budgeting, cash flow modeling, and working with our outside CPA firm. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will supervise and mentor a staff accountant and handle construction accounting tasks such as certified payroll and prevailing wage work.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting and month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting
  • Administration of certified payroll reporting
  • Manage accounts receivable, including billing and collections
  • For select projects, administer temporary union reporting including PLA compliance and contributions
  • Handle accounts payable, including invoicing and check runs
  • Process weekly payrolls accurately and on time, ensuring labor costs are allocated correctly
  • Administer employee benefits, 401k, garnishments, onboarding, and offboarding
  • Prepare and analyze Work in Progress (WIP) reports
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and cash forecasting
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and construction accounting standards
  • Coordinate annual insurance audits and prepare business property statements, business licenses, and file necessary property tax forms
  • Implement and oversee internal control systems and procedures
  • Interface with clients, vendors, payroll companies, insurance brokers, and accounting software providers
  • Identify process improvements and implement enhanced processes and controls

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Accounting Manager or equivalent role, with a preference for 10 years of experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the construction industry, including experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage work
  • Proficient with Viewpoint Vista, Spectrum or ProContractor or similar construction software (Foundation) is preferred
  • Advanced skills in Google Sheets and/or Excel
  • Experience managing and mentoring a team
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

Skills

  • Strong general ledger management and financial reporting skills
  • Ability to prepare and analyze budgets and forecasts
  • Excellent understanding of construction accounting and GAAP
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interfacing with various stakeholders, including top-level executives at the company

What Does Success Look Like in 24 Months?

  • Pipe and Plant Solutions has migrated to a new and more efficient ERP System
  • The accounting department has full ownership of billing and accounts receivable
  • You’ve built and are leading a team of accounting specialists and/or staff accountants who handle AR and AP
  • PPSI is following a proactive and well-organized accounting schedule with a timely accounting close that you have helped build and fine-tune
  • Cross-department collaboration is proactive between accounting and operations with a schedule for compliance information sharing
  • PPSI and its external financial advisors and CPA meet at least monthly to review the company’s progress and preparation for its annual Reviewed Financial Statement begins early each year and the Review is completed by April
